New model question papers for SSC and HSSC exams

Posted by 29 November, 2007 (1) Comment

ISLAMABAD: Education Secretary Jahangir Bashar said on Wednesday that building character of youth as well as the future generations through education required the highest sense of responsibility, impeccable integrity, and unremitting devotion on the part of all stakeholders, namely parents, teachers and students.

Addressing the 23rd medal and prize distribution ceremony of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), he urged students to try and sustain their endeavours in order to advance their educational career in accordance with the international standards.

Bashar appreciated the FBISE’s continuing interest in improving the educational system and its efforts to formulate new model question papers for the SSC and HSSC annual examinations on the pattern of ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels through different types of studies and cooperation with Edexcel International, UK. The government, conscious of the emerging challenges at schools and colleges, has stressed the need for comprehensive teacher training and education, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, FBISE Chairman Commodore (r) Muhammad S Shamshad lauded the efforts and dedication of award winners and said the FBISE was making efforts to reform the new pattern of question papers for examinations. The questions will be analytical in content and the examinations will be based on the new paradigm, he added. Later, six students were awarded medals in recognition of their outstanding performance in the SSC exam. Two of them received gold medals, two silver and two bronze medals.

Similarly, 16 medals were awarded to the HSSC students, of whom five got gold, five silver and six bronze medals. In addition, a cash prize of Rs 40,000 each was awarded to gold medallists, Rs 30,000 each to silver medallists and Rs 20,000 each bronze medallists. The board awarded cash prize of Rs 50,000 each to 19 best teachers. staff report
